General benefits of LED lighting

Energy Efficiency: LED lamps are very energy efficient, not only requiring much less power to operate, but also by emmitting very little heat. As much as 98% of the energy used by a traditional incandescent light bulb can be lost as heat energy instead of light energy.

Commercial Building Tax Deduction: With the rise of the "green" movement and the growing social and political emphasis of environmental change, the government has issued a new tax deduction for expenses incurred in making commercial buildings more energy-efficient. Up to 60 cents per square foot can be deducted for LED lighting.

Reduce Carbon Footprint: Because LED lamps use less energy, less power is required of the electrical grid. This enables businesses to realize legitimate CO2 savings.

Life Of The Bulb: LED lamps last 50 to 100 times as long as an incandescent light bulb and up to ten times longer than a fluorescent or halogen bulb.

Durability: Considered "solid state," LED lamps have no filament or glass casing and can resist the effects of temperature and vibrations, creating a lamp that lasts longer than an incandescent, fluorescent or HID bulb.

No Mercury: The dangerous element of mercury is used within fluorescent and other bulbs. Mercury is not used in LED lamps. This reduces employee and environmental health concerns.

What are the Economic benefits of using LED lights?

1) One time purchase: Lighting products utilizing LED's generally speaking, canl last anywhere from 20,000Hrs to 100,000Hrs. The LED chip it self can last up to 200,000Hrs so having a serviceable, modular product, like the TPL T8 LED tube, would allow for the user to truly get the most out of their product as they would simply replace the failed electrical component (the driver in typical scenarios) and continue with the use of their product in areas where not as much light would be required. This is of coarse in comparison to a single use incandescent, halogen or fluorescent bulb or tube which have been rated from 1,000Hrs to 10,000Hrs at best and are waste at the end of their short lives.  This brings us to;

2) Maintenance costs: Labor is expensive, having a team of maintenance workers out changing a bulb can be costly when this operation takes place on a monthly, weekly or in some applications, a daily basis. One time installation allows for maintenance crews to focus on other aspects of property management. Time is money.

3) Lowered AC costs: Especially critical in the southern states and southern countries where a typical summer day can reach above 100F. Operating an incandescent bulb or even a halogen bulb can reach over 450F!! This is a space heater! Turning 90% of its electrical consumption into heat makes for a very inefficient AC system. LED repalcement products will typically operate below 140F. Meaning your AC wont need to work as hard to keep your room cool.

LED’s have many advantages over traditional Halogen and incandescent lighting, for example:

Led light bulbs save electricity.

The lighting efficiency of the new high power led light bulbs is nearly ten times that of incandescent lights, and at least twice as high as the best compact fluorescent lights. Led bulbs also emit a much higher percentage of light in the desired direction. This makes them even more efficient compared to either incandescent or fluorescent for task lighting, desk lamps, reading lights, spotlights, flood lights, and track lighting.

With colored led lights there is simply no comparison. All of the light output from led bulbs can be a specific color. With other light sources much of the light produced consists of unwanted colors, which must be filtered out.

Led light bulbs also generate very little unwanted heat. The energy savings may be doubled in air-conditioned environments where each watt of incandescent lighting can add another watt or more to the power needed for air conditioning.

Led bulbs can operate for 50,000 hours or more. One led light bulb can easily outlast 50 incandescent bulbs, or 6 compact fluorescents! Led bulbs cost less than the bulbs they replace. Operating 12 hours per day, led light bulbs can last 10 years or more!

Led light bulbs are not sensitive to shock, vibration, or the extreme temperature changes that can quickly ruin fragile incandescent bulbs. And unlike fluorescent bulbs, which wear out much faster if they are frequently turned on and off, led bulbs are not affected by frequent on-off switching.

The long life of led light bulbs reduce the time, effort and cost of replacement.

The high reliability of led light bulbs increases safety and security. There is no waiting for led light bulbs to warm up. Led bulbs light up instantly at full brightness, even in the coldest enviroments.

Led bulbs operate at much lower temperatures. Halogen and incandescent lights are hot enough to cause fire, and they frequently do. Led lights also emit no damaging ultraviolet so they will not cause fading and aging of artwork or other sensitive materials. Fluorescent and halogen lights can cause significant damage over time.
